PerfTech Announces the Island Pro Mini Router/Firewall
PerfTech, a pioneer in network technology, expands its award-winning Island product line with the introduction of the Island® Pro Mini. “The Pro Mini, a new mid-range router/firewall, brings everything resellers and customers love about the Island Pro…high-speed, rugged reliability, easy Smart Swap® install, but wrapped up in a smaller footprint,” says Island CRO Tom Gallo.
Presentation / Target Environment
The Island Pro Mini is ideally positioned for multi-gig, demanding home and small business use. With its distinctively clean, Polynesian-design front plate, it maintains the award-winning aesthetics and use of enterprise-grade components inherent in the Island brand. The firewall includes 4 ports located in the rear: two 2.5Gb and two 10Gb copper RG-45. It can be desktop or 1U rack-mounted; an internal power supply adds to its clean presentation.
Same Patented Technology Inside
Describing his own Island Pro firewall, CEDIA veteran and current Origin Acoustics EVP Joe Whitaker says: “I don’t know what secret sauce you have in there, but it’s pretty freakin’ magical.” That “secret sauce,” inherent in the Pro Mini as well, is the patented packet engine and firmware that the Island team has developed and honed, originally for carrier gateways, over the past 25 years. Island firmware is also distinguished by a highly modular architecture that is error-resistant, self-healing, and rarely needs rebooting. As for performance, President Lewis Donzis states, “Many competing routers come with 10G ports, but that doesn’t mean they deliver 10G speeds, not even close. According to internal testing, the Pro Mini is the only router in its class that truly achieves 10G during busy Internet use, and that is with security filtering and activity monitoring enabled.” The Pro Mini is designed for extreme loads from agentic AI, gaming, highest-resolution AV, and other bandwidth-demanding applications—all resulting in a first-class experience for customers.
Pricing / Availability
The Island Pro Mini supports up to 7,500 devices, is priced at $999 retail, and is due to ship late Fall 2026. The upcoming OceanViewTM multi-Island oversight tool, security and customizable URL filtering, and WireGuard VPN are included, all subscription-free. First looks at the Pro Mini will be available at CEDIA, September 2-4, in Denver.
