Island Pro Price Increase Coming June 17, 2026

Due to current supply-and-demand pressures for critical components of our Island Pro router/firewall, PerfTech announces a $200 retail price increase for the Pro, from $1,299 to $1,499. The price increase takes effect on June 17, 2026. Channel pricing will adhere to the same contractual discounts currently in place.

Several factors have led to this decision. Memory, both DRAM and Flash, have nearly tripled in the past year, and other major components have increased by approximately 50%. While we have previously taken measures to avoid increasing the price by strategic management of our supply chain, and absorbed several cost hikes so far, continued cost increases mandate this action now. The cost-spiking issue is well-known across nearly every intelligent electronic product, so it’s no surprise that Island pricing is affected as well.

Still, the retail price increase does not cover our cost increase. To insulate our channel as much as possible and ease the impact, PerfTech has opted to share the burden by absorbing a portion of the increase.

Note that our original Island will remain priced at $499. This Island uses a generation of RAM that we had already purchased in large supply to avoid availability issues and serves our present inventory demands.

We will continue to try to minimize the need for future price increases but must operate sustainably within the current environment. Hopefully these trends will reverse as market conditions begin to normalize.

Island Receives Honorable Mention at the T.H.E. Show

The T.H.E. (Total HiFi Experience) Show has become a premier destination for serious audiophiles, music lovers, filmmakers, and all who wish to partake. More than a trade show, it’s an immersive cultural event. The show recently marked its 30th anniversary in Las Vegas from March 20-22, 2026, after which Brian Mitchell, 25-year audio veteran and founder of the highly regarded ecoustics.com site, offered an extensive show round-up. Both Best in Show and Honorable Mentions in several categories were cited, primarily honoring high-end and high-value HiFi gear.

Uniquely this time, a network router designed to optimally run high-end A/V gear was recognized too, for which Island Router received an Honorable Mention. While adding that Island is a wired solution (no built-in WiFi, which happens to be an advantage for streaming), the review lauded Island’s enterprise-grade routing, fault-tolerant failover, straightforward app, and last, but not least, its “optimization designed to squeeze the most out of whatever bandwidth your ISP delivers.” For the full show review, see https://www.ecoustics.com/articles/best-the-show-vegas-2026/.

It’s no secret that today’s streaming services dynamically modulate audio/video quality and resolution based on the capabilities of the A/V gear, the ISP service level, and the available bandwidth capability of the Internet router. When it comes down to the finest quality experience, the router can make all the difference. Island’s best-in-class packet engine delivers the maximum audio/video experience, no matter how much simultaneous load may be occurring. PerfTech Kicks Off Island Partner Program

PerfTech, creator of the Island line of router/firewalls, has launched an official reseller partner program designed to help resellers take advantage of new network landscape realities and to drive market growth for both the channel and the Island brand.  Facing extreme growth in the number of connected devices, AI and cloud-based apps, and the adoption of WiFi 7/8, firewall performance has become the critical choke point of the network. “With our superior transaction rates and untapped performance capacity,” stated CRO Tom Gallo, “we want to help Island resellers capitalize on this opportunity, grow their own businesses, and give their customers a cutting-edge performance solution today.”

Kick-off Promotion
To kick-start the program, any reseller business who registers may receive a one-time $100 gift card after purchase and install of either an Island or Island Pro beginning April 1, 2026. Both existing Island and new-to-Island resellers are eligible for the promotion. In addition, new resellers may schedule 1-on-1 direct support during their first install.

Perks Headlined by Unprecedented Support
After the purchase via distribution and completed install of five Islands, the partner gains VIP (Verified Island Partner) status and is entitled to a roster of benefits headlined by VIP support. “Support is often the make-or-break item that determines whether a reseller chooses a vendor relationship. While we offer margin protection, rewards, and training, exceptional support is our priority,” Gallo added. See islandrouter.com/partner-program to learn more.

Island Statement Vis-a-Vis the FCC’s Update Banning Foreign-Made Routers

On March 23, 2026, an FCC Update expanded its “covered” (banned) list of routers deemed security risks due to production on foreign soil to include any router produced outside of the U.S. This action does not affect the sale and use of Island routers. An FCC communication further states that the “action does not impact a consumer’s continued use of routers they previously acquired.” Likewise, it does not prevent retailers or vendors “from continuing to sell, import, or market router models approved previously through the FCC’s equipment authorization process.” As both Island and Island Pro have previously been approved by the FCC, there is no impact to our current router/firewall business. PerfTech, creator of the Island line, will continue to meet FCC qualifications for any future models.

In addition, you can be assured that security is of the utmost priority during the production of Island routers. All high-value, intelligent components in our routers are supplied by US-based companies such as Intel. Security, however, relies not on inactive hardware, but almost entirely on the code used to operate the hardware. Island code is proprietary; it is developed, tested, and loaded into the blank slate of hardware units only in the strict confines of our assembly and production facilities in Texas, a precaution that prevents opportunity for manipulation or tampering.

Smart Swap® Latest in Growing Patent Portfolio

PerfTech, creator of Island® router/firewalls, continues to be recognized for innovation in networking technology by the U.S. Patent Bureau. The engineering team was recently granted several new awards, among them a patent for Island’s Smart Swap® install feature. Smart Swap enables an Island router to take over an existing router’s IP address and maintain the IP addresses of all connected devices, as well as discover and maintain existing VLANs. The technology is especially valuable in router replacement instances where an existing network router has been configured with functions that depend on known IP addresses to operate and is appreciated by installers who perform this task frequently. The Smart Swap process is simple to follow, saves considerable time and hassle during installation, and ensures a smoother transfer of router responsibilities. The team’s patent portfolio has grown to 100 patents to date, with more applications in review.

Island Grows Distribution by a Leap

PerfTech, creator of Island® router/firewalls, dramatically expands its reach into the home AV and commercial MSP channels with the onboarding of additional distributors to its current roster. The new distributors include TD SYNNEX, additional members of the PowerHouse Alliance, and Security Data Systems. “We just returned from a trade show where integrators were on the hunt for a speed-demon router able to support the wave of new IoT devices and monster-bandwidth applications showing up on their networks,” said Tom Gallo, Island CRO. “Once integrators evaluate an Island router, they want it, and we’re excited to grow our distributor base for even broader access.”

Ui Supplies and AlarMax Distributors are the newest members of the PowerHouse Alliance to join the Island roster. Ui Supplies services the New York/New Jersey metro area providing electrical materials, technical training, and turnkey solutions to professional tradespeople.  AlarMax Distributors, with 26 locations across 16 states, and Security Data Supplies (SDS), a franchising distribution company with 21 locations, both specialize in security-focused solutions including access and intrusion control, fire prevention, video surveillance, and more—all of which benefit from Island’s high-performance network base with automated security filtering and next-gen firewall protections.

TD SYNNEX (NYSE: SNX), with 95 distribution centers in the US alone, is the world’s leading global distributor and aggregator of the entire IT ecosystem, uniting solutions from 2,500 best-in-class vendors and serving more than 150,000 customers. Their portfolio is anchored in some of the highest-growth technology segments including cloud, cybersecurity, big data/analytics, AI, IoT, mobility and everything as a service. “TD SYNNEX helps put us in front of a massive audience of commercial MSP integrators, where our Island Pro router with multi-gig and 10,000-device capacity is an ideal fit. We look forward to new synergies with this group,” added Gallo.
