Smart Swap® Latest in Growing Patent Portfolio

PerfTech, creator of Island® router/firewalls, continues to be recognized for innovation in networking technology by the U.S. Patent Bureau. The engineering team was recently granted several new awards, among them a patent for Island’s Smart Swap® install feature. Smart Swap enables an Island router to take over an existing router’s IP address and maintain the IP addresses of all connected devices, as well as discover and maintain existing VLANs. The technology is especially valuable in router replacement instances where an existing network router has been configured with functions that depend on known IP addresses to operate and is appreciated by installers who perform this task frequently. The Smart Swap process is simple to follow, saves considerable time and hassle during installation, and ensures a smoother transfer of router responsibilities.
